In vitro transformation of mouse hematopoietic cells by the spleen focus-forming virus

Abstract

We found that bone marrow cells, incubated with SFFV and cultured in plasma clots or methylcellulose, gave rise to clusters of erythroid colonies after 5 days of culture. This effect is the basis for the in vitro transformation system presented in this paper.
