N1 - Funding Information: A document published by the Centers for Disease Control (2014) serves as a guide for primary care providers and teams who are moving aSBI into routine practice. This guide (http://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/ fasd/documents/alcoholsbiimplementationguide. pdf) includes a worksheet for guiding decision-making as the planning is undertaken and as continuous quality improvements are indicated. Seventeen additional appendices provide factual information, screening measures, and additional documents to support the process of integrating SBI into primary care practice. With funding support from the AACN and CDC, nurse leaders from Johns Hopkins and the University of Pittsburgh are creating an on-line learning program for nurses (i.e., nurse practitioners, nurse informaticists, nurse administrators, and Clinical Nurse Leaders). A primary goal of this project is to increase the number of nurses in the current workforce who have sufficient knowledge and competency in alcohol SBI and are able to champion its adoption within their practice setting. When launched, this program is intended to reach the over 3.1 million nurses in the United States and potentially nurses around the globe. Funding Information: Given the curricular gap, the current nursing workforce is ill prepared to identify and intervene with individuals who may be at risk because of substance use. Various efforts are being undertaken to increase the knowledge and skills of the current workforce. The National Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment is a national focus center of the Addiction Technology Transfer Center, established by SAMHSA. The website (http://attcnetwork.org/national-focus-areas/?rc=sbirt) provides a rich resource of materials for nurses and other health care professionals including a library of webinars on SBIRT-related topics (http://my.ireta.org/webinarlibrary-mobile). Additionally, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing is disseminating best practice via their website (http://www.aacn.nche.edu/education-resources/ curriculum-standards). The Emergency Nurses Association has been a leader in promoting SBIRT offering an alcohol screening toolkit that is accessible on their website at https://www.ena.org/practice-research/Practice/Safety/Injury%20Prevention/ SBIRT/Pages/SBIRTToolkit.aspx. Colorado has been supported by two 5-year grants from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration for SBIRT implementation. SBIRT Colorado is using their evaluation, experience and lessons learned to establish SBIRT, as a standard of care in healthcare settings, providing a rich array of resources on their website at (http://improvinghealthcolorado.org/). Workshops for nurses and other health care professionals are also being conducted by nurse champions across the globe. A recent example is a workshop conducted in March 2015 under the leadership of Tereza Baroso, RN, MsC, PhD, Professora Adjunta, Unidade de Investigação em
