Abstract

To the Editor: In the July 27 issue of the Journal Hunt and his colleagues do not give details of the patients with “vascular collapse.” We do know if there is a type of reaction to stings with shock and low blood pressure, without atopic signs and symptoms, that may not be on an immunologic basis. Was this possibility considered in the patients with “vascular collapse,” particularly if they were treatment failures with whole-body extract? Although it is known that cross-sensitivities exist,1 the authors not only failed to test with polistes wasp but used only honey-bee and yellow-jacket extract for.
