Abstract

ABSTRACT: This lecture, given to celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Henry Phipps Psychiatric Service at Johns Hopkins, focuses on the contributions of Jerome Frank to the understanding and practice of psychotherapy. It gives an overview of Professor Frankʼs ideas and work, puts them into the context of the history of psychotherapy research at Johns Hopkins, and discusses psychotherapy and demoralization in bipolar illness.
