Abstract
Liaison psychiatry involves ongoing collaboration with groups of medical personnel. To effectively intergrate psychosocial needs into the delivery of health care, the liaison psychiatrist must recognize group phenomena within the medical systems where he works. The constructs of systems theory, field theory, and small group dynamics provide a theoretical framework for the process of liaison intervention.
