Abstract
The category of gestational trophoblastic disease encompasses a diverse group of lesions which can be classified as molar and nonmolar. The former includes complete, partial and invasive hydatidiform moles. The latter includes neoplastic (epithelioid trophoblastic tumor, placental site trophoblastic tumor, choriocarcinoma) and nonneoplastic (placental site nodule, exaggerated placental site) lesions. This chapter covers the salient morphologic, immunohistochemical, and molecular features that help distinguish between these entities.
