N2 - Although the above list of educational videos is by no means a comprehensive list of materials that make mention of genetic susceptibility testing for cancer risk, it seems to be representative of those that are easiest to find. While some might be appropriate for use with clients in hereditary cancer programs, many are best saved for the stimulation of guided discussion in a classroom or workshop setting. As none of the videos met our goal of providing basic information on cancer genetics appropriate for a general hospital in-patient population, we have identified a need for the production of such a video to address questions such as the following: What is cancer? What percentage of cancer is hereditary? What are the characteristics of a family history that might be indicative of a hereditary cancer syndrome? Who should I contact for more information or to receive genetic counseling?
