The series of experiments on long-term chemotherapy of advanced murine tuberculosis has been continued, with the aim of devising economical and easily applicable regimes of unimpaired efficiency. The types of regimes studied were mainly intermittently administered combinations of isoniazid and streptomycin, usually preceeded by a stage of daily treatment by these drugs. The effects of lengthening and shortening the initial stage of daily treatment on the results produced by the subsequent regimes was the main subject of the present experiments. The implications of the findings for the treatment of tuberculosis in developing countries are discussed.
