Abstract

Using data collected as part of the CAST Registry, we estimated the proportion of postinfarct patients who would have been eligible for the MADIT. Of the 94,797 CAST Registry patients, only between 0.3% and 1.1% were at high enough risk to benefit from prophylactic defibrillator placement as defined by MADIT.
