Abstract

(R)-and (S)-N,N-Diethyl 2,2-difluoro-3-(2-furyl)-3-hydroxypropionamide 7 have been obtained via enzymic resolution of the racemic acetate using lipase MY from Candida cylindracea. Ozonolysis of the (S)-7 followed by hydrolysis afforded the (S)-β,β-difluoromalic acid 1.
