Abstract

Along with the recent increased use of antithrombotics comes an abundance of undesirable effects, primarily bleeding. As the primary health care provider for an increasing number of hospitalized patients, the hospitalist is the principal decision maker regarding the initiation, maintenance, and reversal of antithrombotic therapy, and often is the first responder to adverse effects. The goal of this article was to review the most important drug interactions associated with antithrombotic medications to reduce the possibility of adverse events.
