Abstract
The authors suggest that the presence of a proximal area of nerve compression in a rat insufficient to produce changes in electrical activity of the sciatic nerve by itself renders the nerve more likely to develop such changes when a second band is placed distally than if the single band were left in place twice as long. These results suggest that this model is suitable for further investigation of the pathophysiology of the 'double crush syndrome.'
