To the Editor: The article of Zerbe and Robertson in the December 24 issue is a very interesting study of the differential diagnosis of polyuria.1 It is important to point out that some patients in this study who had polyuria had previously been treated with vasopressin. Indeed, Roth et al. have shown that vasopressin administration can induce antibodies to vasopressin, and have suggested that the presence of these antibodies should be excluded before other interpretations can be considered to account for defective responses in patients with vasopressin-treated diabetes insipidus.2 Moreover, the presence of antibodies to vasopressin can interfere with the.
