Abstract
Proper diagnosis and management of dry eye in Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) necessitates a comprehensive evaluation by a cornea specialist or an experienced eye care provider to determine the severity of involvement and mechanism of dryness. Treatments must be individualized for every patient by utilizing a stepwise approach, and may include lifestyle modifications, tear replacement or conservation, use of topical anti-inflammatory agents, secretagogues, and/or attention to eyelid hygiene. The SS patient who uses contact lenses or will undergo ocular surface surgery warrants additional, special consideration.
