Abstract
The biochemical, metabolic, and genetic bases for the inherited dyslipoproteinemias in children and adolescents are reviewed. A practical diagnostic approach is provided, followed by guidelines for dietary and drug therapy. Through the detection and treatment of such children, it is hoped that premature coronary artery disease can be prevented or delayed.
