The prostate represents one of the largest glands in the human body with unknown physiologic function. Granted the prostate supplies a large number of biologic components to the ejaculate, but their biologic function is essentially unknown. There has been no shortage of speculation on these matters but very little compelling evidence. We provide herein an overview of factors important in regulating prostatic growth.
