Abstract
This paper examines community organizations involved in the fight against AIDS and against unjustified fear of AIDS in the City of Barcelona, Spain. The political and social context for community organizations is reviewed, and the different registered organizations that have been involved in community initiatives against AIDS are presented, together with their actual role. Public support for community organizations related to AIDS and their relationship with the public administrations are studied. Current trends and future prospects are analyzed.
