Abstract
This case report describes a patient with acute promyelocytic leukemia receiving high-dose suppressive chemotherapy with well controlled cyclical episodes of vaginal bleeding using combination oral contraceptive pills containing 50 mcg mestranol and 1.0 mg norethindrone (NE). Development of severe hemorrhagic mucocitis during chemotherapy prevented oral drug administration. An amenorrheic state was successfully achieved by daily vaginal administration of twice the oral dose of contraceptive.
