CLINICAL DECISION-MAKING: DESIGN OF A DATA BASE IN OPHTHALMOLOGY.

Abstract

The Medical Information Systems Laboratory has been recently established in Chicago to pursue three activities: Clinical Research and Decision Support; Construction and Modeling of the Data Base in Ophthalmology; Network-compatible Data Base Design. The investigations into how to construct a data base in ophthalmology, and into distributed data base design, are ancillary to the exploration of artificial intelligence techniques in clinical decision-making. Ways are developed to get reliable clinical information into the ophthalmological data base in furtherance of the objective of establishing significant clinical decision support.
