Carcinoma of the pancreas: are we making progress?

Abstract

Over the past several decades no disease has frustrated clinicians more than carcinoma of the pancreas. At the time of diagnosis most patients have been unresectable. Recent reports suggest that when resection is possible, pancreaticoduodenectomy can be performed safely and survival extended by adjuvant therapy.
