Abstract

carbamazepine in daily doses of 600 to 1200 mg controlled hemifacial spasm in three patients. In other reports, carbamazepine was effective in over half of the patients. Controlled trials are needed to established whether carbamazepine is as effective as the surgical therapies currently in vogue.
