Behavioral change in a cancer patient following intrathecal β-endorphin administration

Abstract

A patient with disseminated malignancy received 3 mg of synthetic β-endorphin administered intrathecally by lumbar puncture. A marked behavioral syndrome characterized by confusion hypomanic/manic behavior, and psychosis followed drug administration and persisted for more than 2 days.
