Abstract

Cytopathology reports are typically the only basis for indexing cases. Report statements which would distract the clinician may be suppressed and thus become lost to subsequent retrieval. An experimental computer program based on symbolic logic was developed to select from a gynecologic smear those observations to be reported and those to be indexed only.
