Abstract
Perioperative medicine has been advocated as the future of anesthesiology. Although anesthesiologists have a role in multiple facets of the perioperative process, we currently do not train the individual anesthesiologist to be an expert in all facets of the delivery of perioperative medical care, and current reimbursement suggests that this will not become an economic priority.
