Abstract

This paper describes an evaluation of a simultaneous reconstruction and motion estimation algorithm for gated myocardial emission tomography using a multi-image, channelized Hotelling observer model. The test data for the evaluation were obtained using the NURBS-Based Cardiac Torso (NCAT) 4D phantom with simulated myocardial defect. Results indicate that the simultaneous algorithm produces images with significantly improved myocardial defect detectability, relative to the best of an alternative reconstruction method.
