Abstract

The naturally occurring alkaloid himbacine has been found to be a potent muscarinic antagonist that displays selectivity for M2 or M4 receptors. Using himbacine as a lead compound we have begun to explore its structure-activity profile in order to arrive at an analogue for possible use in cholinergic pharmacotherapy.
