N2 - To the Editor: I was most interested to read of Dr. Syed Abdullah's biofeedback-meditation-relaxation technic for control of asthmatic wheezing (N Engl J Med 291:1037, 1974). Ten patients appearing in the emergency room of this institution for treatment of asthmatic episodes were treated initially with acupuncture, and in each the wheezing either diminished or disappeared as observed by both the patients and the attending physician. In each case, however, there was no noteworthy change in spirometric flow rates after the procedure except for an appreciable increase in forced vital capacity.
