note = "Funding Information: The idea for the DIR was first formulated in December 2004 by ACR Board of Chancellors member Richard L. Morin, PhD, and G. Donald Frey, PhD, then president of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine. As a proof-of-concept project, funded by the ACR and developed by the University of North Florida, it collected dose indices from the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) headers of 12,443 computed radiographic and digital radiographic examinations from the Mayo Clinic Florida in August 2005. The Medical University of South Carolina began contributing to this database in 2006. ",
