Abstract
Outpatient treatment of cancer patients, often medically and psychologically sound, results in great savings for insurers but increased out-of-pocket expenses to patients. If insurers were to retmburst for nonmedical out-of-pocket costs as well as medical, this disincentive to deinstitutionalization would be removed.
