Abstract

Evidence is presented which suggests that (i) simian virus 40 (SV40) virion proteins VP-1 and VP-3 are independently coded; (ii) there is little sequence homology between the nonhistone virion proteins of SV40 and those of polyoma virions; and (iii) two of the histone-like protein species of SV40 are also present in polyoma virions.
