Abstract

The artificial sweetener, calcium cyclamate, now can be included with those chemicals known to be photosensitizing. This side effect of cyclamate probably is rare and previously has been documented only in Japan. The mechanism of the photosensitivity probably is photoallergy rather than phototoxicity.
