Abstract

A new model has been developed for studying the potency and mechanism of action of antiandrogens using castrate adult rats receiving exogenous testosterone. This system involves the effect of these compounds in altering the rate of deoxyribonucleic acid synthesis in rat sex accessory tissue. The following compounds were tested for their antiandrogenic effectiveness in this system and the order of potency was observed to be: Sch 13521 ≥ cyproterone acetate > MK 316 > R 2956 > medrogestone.
