Abstract
A 60-year-old woman with end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis presented with cellulitis of both pretibial areas, which did not respond to antibiotics. She then underwent a bone scan showing evidence of calciphylaxis. She was subsequently diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism secondary to renal failure with parathyroid hormone levels as high as 2500. She underwent a total parathyroidectomy with reimplantation of one parathyroid gland into the left forearm.
