title = "1996 Presidential address to the Agriculture, Food, and Human Values Society",
abstract = "Concerns about values and caring in the USA are being widely voiced in many sectors of the society, including agriculture. The time seems right to bring new ideas about the ethics of agriculture and eating into public discourse. The Society is well situated to initiate the dialogue, and Paul Thompson's book Spirit of the Soil (1995) provides an excellent starting point.",
